If you’ve ever been on a road trip, you’ve probably felt compelled to keep going. You appear to be so concentrated on the road ahead of you that you are unwilling to deviate from the norm and perhaps squander time.
There will be times when you are driving and nature calls. When this occurs, you stop at a rest stop or gas station to relieve yourself before continuing on your journey.
That’s what happened when a couple in Thailand traveled for the holidays to see family.
Unfortunately, after his pee break, the husband rushed off in the truck, leaving his wife behind without realizing it.
This was a tragedy on multiple levels. Fortunately, no one was wounded, but I’m sure there was a major debate after they were reunited.
It all began when the husband abandoned his wife on the side of the road. She then had to walk 12.5 miles in the middle of the night to seek assistance.
Boontom Chaimoon, 55, is the husband who made this mistake, and we believe he is still paying the price. It was approximately 3 a.m. when he and his wife, 49-year-old Amnuay Chaimoon, became separated while driving.
He had pulled over in his Isuzu pickup truck to relieve himself, and his wife had apparently questioned why he hadn’t stopped at a gas station. After all, she needed to ease nature as well, so she went into the bushes for some solitude.
When she returned to the vehicle, it had vanished, and her husband had accompanied it.
She didn’t have her cell phone with her because she had left it in the car, and she felt that walking 12.5 miles was preferable to waiting in the middle of the night by the roadside.
Once she reached an area where she could make a call, she had another difficulty because she didn’t have his number. She tried calling her own phone 20 times trying to get his attention, but he didn’t answer it.
She then attempted to contact other relatives through the authorities as he continued driving to the actual location, which was 99 miles away.
He didn’t know he’d abandoned his wife by the side of the road until 8 a.m.
He immediately turned around and retraced his steps, eventually reuniting with his wife. He assumed she was napping in the backseat, or so he stated.
Fortunately, she was amicable about the event. She forgave him, and they continued their 27-year blissful marriage, deciding not to fight about the matter.
This is a funny story, but I guess it’s also a lesson for all of us.
