The High-Speed Chase
A city guy was driving his shiny new convertible down a country road, enjoying the breeze. He spotted an old farmer pulling out of a side lane in a rusty tractor. The city guy accelerated, zoomed past him, and yelled conceitedly:
– “Make way for 200 horsepower, old man!”
– “Make way for 200 horsepower, old man!”
Further down the road, the young man lost control at a sharp turn and crashed right into a deep ditch. He was unhurt, but the luxury car was buried deep in the mud, unable to move. Just then, the farmer slowly chugged up on his tractor, stopped, and looked down at the ditch.
The city guy completely changed his attitude, holding onto the car frame and pleading desperately:
– “Sir, please use your tractor to pull my car out! I will pay you $200 for the trouble!”
– “Sir, please use your tractor to pull my car out! I will pay you $200 for the trouble!”
The farmer calmly chewed on a blade of grass, looked at the young man, and said:
– “I’d love to help you, son… But you’ll have to wait a bit. I need to go back to the barn and fetch the other 199 horses, because this one iron horse of mine can’t fight against your 200 horsepower all by itself!”
