She spoke softly, “Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?”
The operator replied, “Of course. What’s the name and room number?”
The old lady answered in a weak voice, “Norma Findlay, Room 302.”
The operator said, “Please hold while I check with her nurse.”
After a few minutes, the operator returned.
“I have good news. Her nurse says Norma is doing very well. Her blood pressure is stable, her lab results are normal, and her physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her discharge for Tuesday.”
The old lady sighed with relief.
“Thank you so much! That’s wonderful news. I was so worried. God bless you!”
The operator smiled and asked, “You’re very welcome. Is Norma your daughter?”
The old lady replied,
“No… I’m Norma Findlay in Room 302. No one tells me sh*t.” 😅
