A woman opened her front door one morning to a strange man who asked, “Excuse me, ma’am, do you happen to have a spare room?” Feeling annoyed by the bizarre request, she promptly slammed the door in his face.
The exact same thing happened the very next morning.
That evening, she explained the creepy situation to her husband. “Tomorrow, I’m staying home from work,” the husband declared protectively. “I’ll hide right behind the door. When he knocks and asks the question, just tell him ‘yes’—I want to see exactly what this joker’s angle is.”
Sure enough, the next morning, the stranger knocked on the door. “Do you have a spare room?”
The wife put on a fake smile and replied, “Yes, actually, I do.”
The stranger beamed with absolute relief and said:
“Fantastic! Then would you please tell your husband to start sleeping in it, and stop sneaking into mine?”
