My youngest son whined at me, “Things are way harder now, Dad! You had it so easy when you were my age. You just don’t know what it’s like to walk in my shoes!”
I looked at him and said, “You know what, son? You’re completely right. I really don’t know!”
“I don’t know what it’s like to drink artisanal bottled water, wear $200 sneakers, or suffer a mental breakdown because the Wi-Fi dropped for two seconds on my personal smartphone.”
“When I was your age, we drank rusty water straight from the garden hose, played outside until the streetlights came on, wore shoes bought from a yard sale, looked up phone numbers in a phone book, and actually had to spin a rotary dial!”
